The crisis of youth homelessness is a nation-wide problem that is not getting better. Starting at a local level, Enough is Enough will continue to work throughout the community to provide HOPE, but also work to network with other visionaries focusing on eliminating youth homelessness in Florida.
We also vision a plan to tackle the barriers for homeless youth to find access for help. One barrier facing our community are youth that “age out” of foster care without a family or program that is willing to continue to house them once their foster care funding is eliminated. Also, compiling a resource guide that will list resources that homeless youth can use to find emergency shelter, food, clothing, and other available resources in their county.
“Helping one person will not change the world, but for that one person that world will change forever.” Just think what change can occur if we all worked together to help.
Our first project was to help the children that lost their special toy during Hurricane Ian. The hurricane led to many displaced and homeless families in our community and we wanted to provide a ray of hope to the children who were caught in the storm. In Spring 2023, we worked on fundraising and spreading awareness for our “Funner Summer” Project. This project was to provide funds for children that could not afford summer camp. Research shows that keeping children busy and off the street during the summer contributes to better success outcomes. Next, we moved full steam into our Back to School Backpack; drive. We collected many generous donations from our community and were able to provide over 50 individually filled backpacks to needing children in Volusia County and provided the remaining supplies to HOPE Place Shelter to provide the sheltered children additional supplies they needed to start of the 2023-2024 school year.
